Come and join with us!

Congregation Beth Tikvah is a member of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. CBT was founded and continues to be a fully egalitarian synagogue with men and women having equal access to the bimah. The responsibilities for men and women called to the bimah during services are identical with head covering and tallesim being required.

Shabbat Services

For those who are less familiar with Shabbat and holiday services or who perhaps feel nervous about attending, we provide a personal 'service buddy'.  Your buddy meets you at the beginning of services, sits with you, explains what's happening and what to do at every point in the service, and answers any other questions you may have. Above all, your buddy will be there with you and for you whenever you need a friendly guide.

Fridays at 8:00pm (occasional early service at 6:00pm - please check the calendar)

TorahWe come together on Shabbat evening to welcome the Sabbath as a community, light the candles and make Kiddush together. We sing familiar tunes, led by Cantor Lebovic and visit with friends during the Oneg as we share dessert and coffee after the service.

Often our services are enhanced as each elementary class in our Hebrew School leads a service, as do Men's Club and Sisterhood. Our B'nai Mitzvah help to lead service as part of their Bar/Bat Mitzvah Day. We also welcome outside speakers.

Each Friday night, Rabbi Gans presents his "sermon dialogue" in order to engage the congregants in discussion of a timely event or classic Torah topic.

Saturdays at 9:30am

Traditional Shabbat morning services are celebrated weekly, punctuated by our B'nai Mitvah, and services led by older students, throughout the year. Congregants are welcomed to the bimah to participate by having an aliyah (reciting the blessings before and after the torah reading), opening the ark, lifting and tying the Torah or acting as a Torah reader.

Sevrvices are followed by a Kiddush where we visit while enjoying coffee and cake.

Festival Services

Services for both days of the Festival Holidays - Sukkot, Simchat Torah, Passover and Shavuot are held at 9:30am, and include Yizkor Services (Memorial Services) on the last day of each holiday, as well as on Yom Kippur.

Minyanim

All services for the High Holidays are held off site, in a venue large enough to accommodate all who wish to join us, including extended family. We encourage children to sit in the main sanctuary with their parents, or to attend our alternate age appropriate services which run simultaneously.

Congregants participate in services in many ways, including ark openings, carrying and holding the torahs, reading torah, and saying the blessings at the torah. In addition, congregants act as ushers throughout the services.

Our weekday minyan prayer service is not only participatory, but friendly and inviting as well. The service enhances a sense of personal devotion and assists those who are in the process of reciting kaddish (prayer for the deceased). The minyan service underscores our commitment to offer a service to those within our community who seek to perform this mitzvah.

  • Monday and Thursday at 7:00am (9:00am on secular holidays)
  • Sunday at 9:00am when school is in session

Large Print Siddurim are available. Please see an usher when you arrive.

Friends and family are welcome!

Invite your friends and family to celebrate whatever special occasion you would like. Rabbi Gans will announce the sponsors and their Simcha. The Oneg will be provided by one of our kosher bakeries and will include coffee, tea, soda and assorted pastries. Please remember that you are also welcome to sponsor an Oneg in memory of someone. If you prefer to sponsor a Saturday Kiddush, that is fine too.

Need a ride to services?

We are developing a list of people who need a ride to services and people willing to drive. Please contact Janet Davidson (856-983-8090) if you need a ride or can volunteer to drive. We plan to continue this for regular Shabbat services.
