Kadima and USY provide the means to strengthen Jewish identity and values while having fun with peers!
USY is the teen youth group arm of the Conservative movement. Participation in USY provides and strengthens new relationships among young Jewish teenagers. These relationships are built outside the religious classroom while participating in fun and energetic activities. In addition, we are also involved in religious, educational, and social programs.
All teens in grades 8-12 are encouraged to join our monthly USY chapter events and Hagesher regional events. Being part of an organization such as USY is a great experience for teens. They build new friendships with other Jewish teenagers and also prepares them for entering the adult Jewish community. Enclosed is a membership application, please fill it out and return it to the synagogue office. Our calendar is full of activities including monthly regional dances, pumpkin picking, skiing, midnight bowling, ice skating, a Purim dance, and Falafelfest.
In addition, members learn more about the practice of Jewish rituals and mitzvot. They participate in tzedakah projects that will benefit CBT and the surrounding community. For those children who are interested leadership, training courses are available. Among our events for USYers is our monthly Friday night Shabbat dinner and services.
Erica Braverman was raised in Cherry Hill, became a Bat-Mitzvah, was confirmed, and graduated Midrasha at Temple Beth Shalom. She attended Rutgers University for both her undergraduate studies, in Psychology and Communication, and graduate studies in Library and Information Science.
While at Rutgers, Erica participated in Hillel activities and worked at the YM/YWHA as a nursery school assistant/after care teacher in Highland Park, NJ. A two year teaching job in Brooklyn moved her to the big city and away from her family and friends. After accomplishing her goals in New York, Erica decided to move back to South Jersey to be closer to her family. She currently teaches 6th grade in Lindenwold and is really looking forward to working with the USY members at both Congregation Beth Tikvah and Temple Sinai.
To become a member of Kadima or USY, please complete the downloadable application and medical information form and forward it to the CBT office at 115 Evesboro-Medford Road, Marlton, NJ 08053 along with a dues check made payable to CBT Youth.
