Community Involvement

At Congregation Beth Tikvah, participation in charitable and tikkun olam (repair of the world) social action endeavors in the greater South Jersey community is one of our highest priorities. It is our commitment to dedicate substantial resources of time, and people to the ongoing improvement of the outside community to which we all belong. Over the years, Congregation Beth Tikvah has been involved in a number of initiatives to enhance the quality of life in our communities of Burlington and Camden Counties, and the Greater Philadelphia area. We feel this involvement is another part of what makes us special. (more)

We are pleased to participate with the Marlton Ministeriem in the annual Evesham Community Erev Thanksgiving service, a combined service with all of the churches in Marlton. This year it was on November 26, at the Marlton Presbyterian Church.

In the past we have been involved with Alex's Lemonade Stand, Samaritan Hospice, and Habitat for Humanity to name a few. Our members volunteer in local nursing homes on Christmas Day to allow workers to celebrate the holiday with their families, and enhance the holiday for the residents. We sponsor Red Cross Blood Drives annually, and participate in local food and clothing drives, including delivering Turkeys on Thanksgiving to the elderly. We deliver Mitzvah meals to our own families in need.

All congregants are openly welcomed to participate, at whatever level you choose. New ideas for tikkun olam projects, large or small, are always encouraged. This year we are planning involvement in many more activities, including the Backpack project, active involvement with Greenfaith, an interfaith program working to help synagogues and churches in New Jersey develop strategies to protect the earth, as well as Martin Luther King's Birthday service projects, and continuing food and clothing drives.

New ideas are always welcome!

Come out and join our committee or contact the chairman, Janet Davidson, at 856-983-8090 for more information.
