Our members come from a wide variety of Jewish backgrounds. We incorporate both deep respect and love for the Jewish tradition as well as a commitment to make our tradition accessible and meaningful to all who participate in our growing community. Moreover, you can participate as little or as much as your schedule allows.

Whether you are attracted by our participatory and engaging Friday evening service and discussion, the joyful tunes of the Shabbat morning and Holiday services, a Minyan at home for a family observing Shivah, or the sharing of ideas at a Sunday morning adult education session, CBT is a place where Jewish community can be found. Some may come to celebrate or to mourn, to socialize or to worship, to be educated or to be rejuvenated. All find a comfortable place among friends in which to meet their Jewish needs.
For those who are less familiar with Shabbat and holiday services or who perhaps feel nervous about attending, we can provide a personal 'service buddy'. Your buddy meets you at the beginning of services, sits with you, explains what's happening and what to do at every point in the service, and answers any other questions you may have. Above all, your buddy will be there with you and for you whenever you need a friendly guide.
But mostly, CBT is a community. You sense the warmth of our community the moment you walk into services on a Friday evening. You see it in the hug one is giving another while wishing Shabbat Shalom. You hear it in the Rabbi's voice as he greets you by name. And you can feel it in the air as the congregation echoes the same melodies you sang growing up. Congregation Beth Tikvah is not just many individuals who practice one tradition. It is many individuals who practice one tradition as one.
